John A Kramer CFRE ADAPEF

John is a highly respected fundraiser with an outstanding track record of success. He began his career as a teacher and almost forty years later, he is still passionate about education and its ability to transform lives. He knows that people give to people and is passionate about helping others bring their dreams to fruition.

His career in fundraising commenced almost 20 years ago and John has built an extensive knowledge of philanthropy from the psychology of giving to donor acquisition to innovations in cultivation and stewardship. He speaks the language of board members and business managers and appreciates the value volunteers can bring to organisations and advancement programs.

John recently retired as Director of Development at Westminster School after a decade spent building the Development function. He was responsible for fundraising, marketing, enrolments, alumni and community relations. A natural fundraiser, his ability to build systems and relationships that result in both annual and major gift support has assisted Westminster in generating an ongoing revenue stream to fund new initiatives benefiting the student body into the future.

In his tenure at Westminster, he has raised over $5.3million for a Performing Arts Centre, an Information Technology Centre, and nurtured a broad-based Scholarship program. Focused on building new capacities to engage donors, he has initiated an expanded Annual Giving program that encompasses a voluntary building fund, a traditional appeal and a direct phone appeal which has tripled donations, engaged new donors and improved data acquisition.

As Westminster head into their next capital campaign, he is taking the lead as their Campaign Director.

Prior to this, he was the inaugural Head of Development and Executive Officer of the Scotch College Foundation. He led the establishment of a fully-resourced and high achieving Development Office and was the driving force behind the first major capital campaign for the College in over three decades raising almost $4 million dollars for a state-of-the-art Science and Technology Centre.

John works with tatu on strategy, planning and mentoring for fundraising and advancement programs. He holds a Bachelor of Education and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), a member of FIA, and a Fellow of ADAPE. He is a recipient of the prestigious Trevor Wigney Award for Outstanding Leadership, Mentoring and Service to ADAPE, a twice past-president of the SA/NT Chapter and remains active within the chapter as a past member of the 2010 ADAPE International Conference planning committee and current presenter.
